The Soft Tissue Clinic
Brighton, East Sussex and Harley St London
Soft Tissue Clinic is owned and run by Amanda Oswald
Amanda has a background in business, qualifying with a BA Honours in International Marketing from the University of Greenwich in 1982 and a Master of Business Administration from The Open University in 1993. These qualifications led her to a career in buying and marketing that spanned over 20 years, during which time she held senior positions with a variety of retail and wholesale companies in the UK and abroad.
A keen sports woman, Amanda played rugby for Saracens and London Region for a number of years, following which she took up long distance running and successfully completed the London and Edinburgh marathons, as well as several half-marathons. As a therapist she has since provided event treatments at the London to Brighton Bike Ride, Sussex Beacon Half Marathon, Downs Link Challenge, Urban RatRace Adventure and English Bowls Championships.
It is this interest in sports, and the subsequent trauma caused to the mind/body by injury, that led Amanda to study massage, first completing an ITEC diploma in Holistic Massage at the Wilbury School in Brighton in 2006, and then qualifying in Sports Massage the following year.
Since her first qualification in 2006, Amanda has continued to study bodywork techniques and to develop her specialist skills in relation to the effective treatment of soft tissue chronic pain conditions, through ongoing training with:
Jing Advanced Massage - advanced medical massage series, musculo-skeletal anatomy; hot stone massage; onsite massage; myofascial release; structural integration
The Upledger Institute UK - craniosacral therapy
Jean Pierre Barrall – visceral manipulation
Prof Eyal Liedermann – body harmonics
Sense of Self – trauma healing (based on the work of Peter Levine)
Amanda is also a Director of RSI Clinics Ltd www.rsiclinics.co.uk which specialise in the effective treatment of RSI related conditions. RSI Clinics currently operate clinics in the UK in Harley Street, London, Brighton, Edinburgh and Oxford.
In addition to her clinical practices, Amanda teaches massage in Brighton and is currently studying for a PGCE in the lifelong learning sector.
